We're excited to welcome Cayuga and Blue Swedish ducks to our farm! While we love raising dairy goats, we wanted to give our children the opportunity to learn about another livestock species through hands-on experience.
Our ducks are much more than a fun addition, they're an educational project. Our children will raise, care for, and eventually show their ducks in 4-H and local fairs alongside our goats. They'll learn responsibility, animal husbandry, public speaking, and the commitment that comes with caring for livestock every day.
We'll also be incubating both duck and chicken eggs, allowing our kids to witness the incredible life cycle from egg to hatchling. Along the way, they'll learn the differences between duck and chicken eggs, proper incubation techniques, nutrition, breeding, and flock management.
Ducklings and eggs from our flock will occasionally be available for sale. The money our children earn goes directly toward the things they love, county fairs, carnival rides, and other special activities they've worked hard to earn.
We can't wait to share this journey with you!
We're also excited to be working toward establishing the Bottoms Up Duck Club as part of our county's 4-H program. Our vision is to create a place where youth can learn about raising, showing, and caring for ducks while developing responsibility, confidence, leadership, and a love for agriculture through hands-on experiences.

Cayuga Ducks
About Cayugas
Cayugas are a beautiful American breed best known for their stunning black feathers, which shimmer with common iridescent green (sometimes purple and blue), sheen in the sunlight. They're calm, friendly, and hardy birds that adapt well to family farms.

Blue Swedish Ducks
About Blue Swedish
Blue Swedish ducks are a striking heritage breed recognized by their soft blue-gray feathers and distinctive white chest bib. They're active foragers, friendly with people, and make wonderful dual purpose farm ducks.

Why We Chose Both Breeds
We chose to raise both Cayugas and Blue Swedish ducks because they complement each other beautifully. Both breeds are calm enough for children to work with, hardy in a variety of weather conditions, and excellent additions to a family farm.
Together, they give our children the opportunity to learn about different genetics, feather colors, egg production, and breed characteristics while caring for a diverse flock. We also simply love the contrast between the glossy black Cayugas and the beautiful blue-gray Swedish ducks, they make a stunning flock to watch wandering around the farm!
